Prime Lens

“A photographer’s main instrument is his eyes. Strange as this may seem, many photographers choose to use the eyes of another photographer, past or present, instead of their own. These photographers are blind.” – Manuel Alvarez Bravo

Zoom lens are nice, handy, and versatile. However, they can not match the image quality of a prime lens. The last month (or two), I’ve been playing with my 50mm on my olympus. the above photo was shot at iso 800. Photos taken that same night using my zoom lens just don’t match up.

The snail was shot in my backyard with the same 50mm. The macro has awesome clarity. All the photos were sharp as a tack.

Unfortunately prime lens are not convenent for most journalism work but I plan on getting a 105mm for editorial and portraiture work.
